Go Ahead & Take a Hiatus Without Leaving Your House

Our daily schedule is beyond full yet I guarantee you that if you can block off a couple hours, you can take a much needed hiatus without leaving your house. We can come up with multiple excuses, some of which are legit but block off a couple hours and give yourself time to enjoy your life. That’s right, it’s your life! You deserve this time!

Ok, now that you have found a couple hours to have fun, let’s get to it! I know that we all spend countless hours on Pinterest, flipping through magazines and searching on google for scrumptious recipes. It’s time to stop looking and start doing! Find that recipe and gather those ingredients. Remember, there are many options for grocery delivery so this truly can be done without leaving the comfort of your castle!

We have had a busy month of traveling and life is now falling back into our normal routine, which I am welcoming with open arms! I loved every trip I have taken this summer but there’s something about being in my own home with the air conditioning turned down, comfy clothes on and surrounded by my dogs! Can I get an Amen!

I am a sucker for a magazine and I’m not talking about one on a tablet. I subscribe to more magazines than I need! I’m sure my mail person loves the game of tetris she has to play to get them all in my mailbox. When I was looking through the latest ‘Eating Well’, I began to drool when I came across a recipe for a Shrimp Boil. I dog-eared the page like I always do when I discover a recipe that looks both simple and healthy! Fast forward a couple weeks and I was trying to come up with something to make for my hubby while our daughter is gone for the week at camp. I wanted a fun, date night at home idea. Then I remembered that page that had me salivating from the moment I saw it….. the Shrimp Boil recipe!

To the grocery store I headed and decided that the only thing this recipe was missing was crawfish! The recipe was a piece of cake to make and the prep work took less than 15 minutes. Once the prep work is done, you simply add the ingredients into a large pot and wait for the magic to happen. And let me tell you, this recipe did not disappoint! The combination of the Old Bay spices with the seafood was zesty in just the perfect way! Hubby and I both enjoyed every bite, so much so that there were no leftovers!

Our at home date night was an entertaining one. We had a blast prepping and cooking together. And it was more fun than we expected to eat dinner with our hands! With full bellies, we shifted our hiatus from the dinner table to the couch for a marathon of one of our favorite shows! With a quick trip to the grocery store and a few hours cleared in our schedule, we had a great time together and will definitely be doing this again! It was the perfect weeknight break from life!
